The Virtual 7" series continues, with a little bit of quiet grandiose music, for the small hours.

Declan Kelly - I Don't Know What Else to Do. (Virtual 7 Inch No.5)

After a nearly year long Hiatus, Virtual 7" series is back. Trying to shine a light on thoses who should be exposed on our wee Island and first up Galway native Declan Kelly and two glorious tunes of his.
In my kitchen I wish all three bikes lying upside down didnt all have punctures, because "I Don't Know What Else to Do" is the finest freewheelin' sounds I think I will hear this year. I know, I know in keep mentioning the phrase "Freewheelin'" but it state of being I try to stride for all day. I once had a bike with a buckled back tyre for nearly six months, the bike was against me all the way, tyre hitting against the forks once every rotation. The posse and I would cycle into town from Deansgrange to go to gigs, and I was always the last in, sweaty and exhausted peddling all the way while the others in font would freewheel, legs dangling. I eventually got a new back wheel and the difference was so pronounced and even joyous, there was no slowing me down and Declan Kelly as made the soundtrack to getting the stabilizes off, getting the buckled wheel off and being free and not weigh down by the mechanics and just enjoying the ride.
Oh truly majestic and comforting and simply touching sounds, like the best John Fahey, Jim o' Rourke and Si Schroder numbers roll up into one.

The Bear People - Virtual 7" (No.4)

The Virtual 7" series continuous, this time from Waterford's Dave Grimes
Aka The Bear People. I came across The Bear People on a late night
myspace leap frogging session. I was instantly hooked on ,"Farfisa and 808"
with its pounding krautrock beat and heavenly Farfisa distorts and builds
and builds up to a cosmic drone estacy that La Düsseldorf would be proud
of. The second song on the virtual 7" is Black Lodge, which Dave admitted he
thought it was a thowaway till he listened back to it a year later. Well I can't
get enough of it's eerie Beach House esque percussion what sounds like sail
bearings hitting the mast and dreamy guitar melody on top. Check out his
myspace for more deadly download. Hopeful gig promoters will eventually
cop on to him and other quality bands and artists here at home and not just
promote bands from abroad. I know I'm really looking forward to a live
outing from this stupidly talented Artist.

Hunter - Gatherer - I Dreamed I Was A Footstep In The Trail Of A Murderer (Virtual 7" No.3)

Photobucket
Two tracks from fuzzed up electronic mistro mystery man. He makes fairly
"moody broody" electronic music which is not a mile miles away from
Trentemoller and Plaid. This is but a brief glimispe into whats to
come from Hunter - Gatherer canon. If he sustains the quality,
a full lp is set to be an interesting prospect.

Patrick Kelleher - He Has To Sleep Some Time (Virtual 7" No.2)

patrick kelleher
"I'll never be a Bowie,
I'll never be a Eno.
I'll only ever be a Gary Numan"
- Smog
Rugby/Glendaloch native Patrick Kelleher took thoughs words to heart but he sure makes accomplished full sound using a cheap old Yamaha keyboard his parents bought
him when he was 12 and a battered drums kit. The title track with its casio dg10 drum track pulsates like "A Zombie/Vampire Cop Car Chase on a hot summer night in San Fran." While the hypnotic "Mulitipass" sounds like an organic John foxx track with lush Hot chip esque vocal track. Great Stuff Indeed.

outstanding EP go to his Myspace Page.

Pascal's Country Sounds Presents: IXCHEL - 2track ( v7" no.1)

IXCHEL

This is the first in a series of virtual 7" from band that I simply
love. First up is the wonderful IXCHEL. Two Dublin fellows, Timothy
Hurley (Quetzolcoatl / Bonecloud) and Barry Semple (Children Under Hoof).
Together their make experimental cinematic music comprising of field
records, soundscapey organs, rhythmic guitars underpined by metal
striking metal drums and drenched in ethereal vocals. "Clockwork Castles"
is probably my favourite track I've hear so far this year. Its euphoric,
its epic and it would make a great soundtrack to Howl's Moving Castle
intercut with the industrial scene in "Meiropolis". Well thats the kind
of imagery I get from this topnotch track anyways.
